BRIEF SUMMARY
Surface hydrology constitutes a fundamental part of the water cycle. Applied hydrology enables the resolution of issues related to the utilization and management of water resources, as well as the design of hydraulic civil works and the study of flood processes resulting from peak flows in streams and rivers. This module will allow the student to reinforce the fundamental concepts of hydrological analysis and understand the capabilities of available methods for the study of hydrological variables such as precipitation, infiltration, evapotranspiration, and primarily surface runoff, whose main analysis is based on the estimation of peak discharges that may be generated within a contributing area or drainage basin.

BRIEF SUMMARY
Subsurface drilling plays a fundamental role in the definition of hydrogeological models. Understanding various drilling techniques and their application to different lithological contexts facilitates comprehension of the design and final construction of production wells and monitoring piezometers. Additionally, knowledge of certain field methods for determining the permeability of materials during drilling activities adds value to the characterization of the hydrogeological units identified at a study site.
This module also covers the importance of pumping tests and their interpretation for the determination of hydraulic parameters, such as the storage coefficient, transmissivity, and hydraulic conductivity, including a review of analysis methods for unconfined, semi-confined, and confined aquifers. Finally, the module explains the basic principles for the planning of groundwater monitoring networks, as well as the instrumentation and associated technologies.

This module begins with general concepts of water hydrochemistry, particularly focused on groundwater.
